The Art Of Living Alone — Part 2
Do you think it will be easy and free? definitely, it is not. It made you realize that practically and emotionally, especially the moment when you are sick, homesick, and lonely.
SAFETY & SICKNESS
The thing I learned while living alone was being responsible for myself and my own safety. We must be careful about our environment, the dorm we live in, even our neighbors, whether it is friendly to pedestrians at night or not. Also have to really remember every detail of our habits, such as making sure the bedroom door is closed and locked while we sleep, or whether to actually plug the iron cord, turn off the Fan or AC. So choosing a safe and comfortable dorm is very important. Because no one can guarantee our safety, except ourselves. That’s different when we were still living with our parents, they always took care of us, even when we slept in the living room, they moved us to our bed. But when you are living alone and want to be independent, you have to responsible for yourself. Fortunately for my dorm every night there is a guard around the complex every hour, and the neighbors of my dorm are also very kind, even when I am sick they take care of me until I recover.
So I think getting to know the neighbors or having good communication with the owner, is very necessary when we live alone. Especially if there is an unexpected problem, neighbors are the closest people you can contact for help. The paranoia of being in danger can be hard to deal with when you don’t have someone else to help protect you. Well at least if we die, there is someone who can tell our family the news. Because humans are social creatures.
In addition, as someone who lives alone, we must have first aid and medicines such as fever medicine or stomach ulcers, because the disease usually suffered by someone who lives alone is ulcer LOL.
THE LONELINESS
When living alone I think this will be fun and free, I don’t have to share the room with other people, I can keep my room clean and dirty, I can listen to music loudly, express emotions while watching, and I can do things which I like without having to bother my roommate. In this way, my life feels free and I feel like I’ve become the adult as I want to be.
But I realized recently, that the other side of freedom is being alone. And to be an adult is to be alone. And this loneliness will be a friend who is always there when we live alone. Loneliness usually comes when we want to talk to other people, but there is no one we can talk to. When we’ve done whatever we like, done our job, then what? We may need someone to accompany us to talk, listen to our thoughts, and share stories or work we have done. Even when we’ve tried to hangout with friends, and ended up going back to our room and finding ourselves alone at night is a very sad thing.
Loneliness is very dangerous, because it often makes us difficult to sleep and always ringing in our heads, so maybe we must find someone we can talk to freely and people we trust to share our thoughts. SEMANGAT!
Don’t let us feel freed by living alone, but feel lonely living alone.
